English is currently only taught in Moroccan public schools starting from the third year of middle school.

The next phase would be to increase English instruction by 50% in the first year of middle school in 2024-2025, and by 100% in the second year, reads a release by the educational body..

The final phase is to teach English to all students in the first year of middle school at 100% capacity.

Each class will receive two hours of English per week, and teachers will be responsible for 12 classes.

The ministry’s decision is supported by international collaboration to make the language easier to teach.

The basis of this revolutionary plan is the continuous formation of teachers, according to a specified structure, to strengthen their abilities and assist them in keeping up with the international requirements of doing their profession.

With this, the Ministry of Education plans to create digital platforms for both students and teachers to help them through the learning process.

When the initial plan was first announced in October, a ministry official told Hespress EN that the only risk that remains is that the program will be presented to students who are not ready for it.

Therefore, to avoid such things the program will be introduced gradually before being implemented across the country.
